Today I’m sharing with you six lessons from six years in business.
I start the episode with a raw and honest life update, sharing how I’ve been navigating a deep growth season in my business, from hiring a new client success coach to transitioning all my programs and client touchpoints to the School platform. It’s been an intense but exciting period of change, with lots of behind-the-scenes shifts to support scale and sustainability.
It’s wild to think that a decision I made at 22—to start a coaching business—completely changed my life. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I wanted to help people. Coaching called to me after doing my own inner work, and I felt a deep sense of purpose the moment I discovered it.
What followed was a journey more rewarding and more challenging than I could have imagined. I believe anyone who chooses this path must be a little crazy—in the best way. Growing a business will stretch you like nothing else. Through these six years, I’ve learned countless lessons, but here are the six most powerful ones.
Lesson 1: Obsession Matters
If you want above-average results, you need above-average dedication. Building a successful business requires sacrifices, discipline, and deep obsession. I’ve worked early mornings, late nights, and said no to social plans because I believed in what I was creating. Obsession, when it’s rooted in passion, doesn’t feel like a burden—it feels like purpose.
Lesson 2: Duality Is Everything
Business is highs and lows—sometimes in the same day. You will fail, be judged, feel misunderstood, and yet also experience incredible wins. The ability to hold both the good and the bad will determine how far you go. If you crumble in the lows, you won’t last. If you embrace duality, you’ll grow stronger and more resilient with every challenge.
Lesson 3: Proximity Shapes Your Success
You cannot do this alone. Investing in mentorship, support, systems, and team is not a cost—it’s a catalyst. When you surround yourself with people who are doing big things, you rise with them. Proximity is power, and every successful person I know invests in being in the right rooms.
Lesson 4: Belief Is a Non-Negotiable
Unwavering self-belief is essential. If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can’t, you won’t. Your thoughts create your feelings, which create your actions, which create your results. Everything begins with belief. I’ve done the inner work—hypnotherapy, NLP, breathwork—to strengthen this belief over and over again.
Lesson 5: The Growth Never Stops
The moment you think you know everything is when you fall behind. The coaching industry evolves constantly—algorithms change, new platforms emerge, and buying behavior shifts. You must stay curious, humble, and willing to adapt. What got you here won’t get you there.
Lesson 6: Integrity Is Your Power
Walk your talk. Embody what you teach. Be congruent. In an industry full of inauthenticity, integrity sets you apart. It’s how you build trust, sleep peacefully at night, and create a business that lasts. Your values and how you live them will define the reputation you build.
This business has given me freedom, joy, love, and impact. I’ve changed lives, created a thriving company, and built deep relationships. I wouldn’t trade the highs or the lows for anything. And we’re just getting started.
