Hiring a Coach? Watch Out for These Red Flags

Today’s episode is for anyone who’s ever felt burned by a coaching investment or scared to make the next investment to help you make aligned committed decisions and choose your next coach intentionally.
Embodiment
The first thing I look for in any coach is embodiment.
Do they live what they teach?
Are they a real-life example of the result they’re helping others create?
- If they’re a mindset coach, does their mindset feel grounded and powerful?
- If they’re a relationship coach, are they in healthy relationships themselves?
- If they’re a business coach, are they consistently making the kind of money they’re promising?
Its not by being perfect, but you do want to see consistency.
Here’s how I embody what I teach:
I help female coaches scale to $30K+ months.
And I’ve done that myself, many times over. I’ve built a million-dollar coaching business.
But more importantly, I show it transparently—through my systems, my calendar, my backend, my metrics.
It’s not just about what I earn. It’s how I earn it. With space. Simplicity. Sustainability.
So ask yourself—before you invest:
Does this coach model what I want my life or business to look like?
Experience
The next piece is experience.
There are a lot of people selling things they’ve only just learned themselves.
But experience matters.
That doesn’t mean they need 20 years in the industry or 6 degrees. But it does mean:
- They’ve walked the path long enough to teach it
- They’ve tested and refined their process
- They know what to do when things don’t go to plan
In my case:
I’ve helped over 200 coaches grow their businesses.
I’ve coached clients through their first $1K, their first $10K, and even their first $100K months.
I’ve studied from some of the best mentors in the world.
But beyond that—I’ve lived this. I’ve invested, tested, failed, refined, and succeeded.
When you’re looking for a coach, ask:
Can they lead me through not just the highs, but also the lows? Do they know what im going through
Client Results
The third thing to look for is proof beyond the coach.
Their clients’ results.
And not just one client they talk about on repeat.
But a wide range of results—across different people, niches, personalities.
Here’s what that looks like in my world:
I’ve supported:
- A mindset coach to $30K+ months with her first group program
- A beauty industry mentor to fill out her first mastermind
- A brand new coach to land her first $5K month within 90 days
- And dozens more, across a wide range of offers, niches, and skill sets
Because the method isn’t just about me.
It’s built to work when others apply it too.
So before you invest, ask:
Do they have real, recent, repeatable results from other people?
Red Flags to Watch For
Some common red flags I see:
- Coaches who make bold claims with no transparent proof
- Coaches who’ve only created success once and haven’t repeated it
- Coaches who talk a lot about themselves, but not about their clients
Coaching is a beautiful industry. But not all offers are built equally.
You deserve to feel safe, supported, and set up to win.
What to Look For Instead
Look for coaches who:
- Are living proof of their work
- Have experience leading others to success
- Can show multiple client wins, not just a personal story
- Offer clear structure, real support, and client-centred programs
- Are still learning and refining themselves (because growth never ends)
