Hello and welcome to another episode of Behind the Business. If you’re watching this on YouTube or the video version on Spotify, as you’ll see, I am parked on my very comfy couch because I wanted to take you into a non-scripted, more heart-to-heart episode today. I really vulnerably open up about where I’m at in my business because I’m going through a huge growth period. There are a lot of things I’m struggling with—and also a lot of things that are going fantastically well.
And given this podcast is called Behind the Business, I think it’s only fitting that I actually take you behind my business and transparently share that with you, because personally, these are my favourite episodes to consume. I don’t know if I’m just a nosy person or a curious one, but I learn more from how others make decisions and move through challenges than I do from step-by-step “how-tos.” So I wanted to give you one of those episodes that I personally love listening to, in hopes that it helps you too.
Especially in the earlier stages of business, when you hear someone say, “I make 100K a month, 200K, 300K,” it’s so easy to assume everything’s perfect. But that’s not the case. There’s a reason the saying “more money, more problems” exists—not because life has to be hard when you make more money, but because there are naturally more variables: more leads, more decisions, more moving parts. And you’ve got to learn how to hold that.
I’ve gone from 30K months to 150K months in less than a year—from April to December, that growth happened. And now I’m catching up emotionally, mentally, and energetically to be able to hold that level. I’m currently making between $100K and $150K cash collected every month. I want to share what I’m navigating—the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between.
Let’s start with the positives. It’s freaking amazing to make $100K+ per month. We just hit that again in January 2026, and for the first time, it feels normal. I’ve normalized it. I’m still grateful, but now it just feels like—this is what we do. And I look forward to the day where I’m saying that about $200K months.
It’s such a cool place to be—being able to pay my team well, enjoy high profit margins, and delegate more. Because of that, I have more time, more freedom, and the ability to make more money. So yes, things are great.
But also—I’m going through a real growth period. To hold this level and continue scaling, I need help. So I’ve been hiring a lot, and that’s been challenging. My existing team is so self-sufficient, but the new hires? I’ve had to hand-hold a lot more. And I’ve felt like a complete novice at times, especially in leadership. I’ve been creating SOPs, staying organized, answering tons of questions, and putting out fires—it’s a lot.
Hiring is supposed to free you, but right now it feels like I’ve just shifted into a new role: manager, trainer, fire-extinguisher. And I’ve made mistakes—over-hiring, under-hiring, hiring too quickly. The roles I’ve been hiring for are appointment setters and closers—people who help with DMs, calls, and sales—and it’s just been… hard.
I’m also checking Slack 24/7. Every time I open my phone, I’m habitually checking messages from team or clients. It’s draining. And I’m learning to stop doing that, but it’s been tough while I’m still onboarding and supporting people.
Another challenge? Holding more capacity. We’re doing $100K to $150K months, aiming for $200K and then $300K. But before I can hold that, I need to be able to hold where I am. I’m just holding on right now. The money part I’m okay with. But holding the team and all the variables that come with scaling? That’s where I’m stretched.
There was a time I stayed at $30K months because I believed more than that would be exhausting. Now, I’m noticing similar thoughts around $300K months. I know those thoughts will limit me unless I work on them. So I’m reminding myself: I can do this. If I can’t hold this, I can’t hold more. But if I lean in and expand my capacity, I can.
Lastly—letting go of control. I’ve always done all the sales calls myself, and now I’m handing that over. It’s terrifying, because that’s where the money comes from. I trust myself in sales, and now I have to trust others. But I’ve hit 12 sales calls in a day before, and that’s just unsustainable. So I need to keep delegating and trust that others can not only do it—but do it better with my support.
This isn’t me complaining. This is me sharing the reality. You can struggle and be grateful. You can have a lot going right and still feel like it’s a lot. Both can coexist—and they are.
So if you think people making way more money than you have it all figured out? Think again. Every stage of business—whether it’s your first 5K month or hitting 100K+—comes with its own challenges. You’ve got to meet those challenges, move through them, and grow your capacity.
That’s what I’m doing right now—with the support of my coach and my team. I hope this episode helps normalize what might be coming up in your business too. Lean in, get support, and upgrade your reality.
See you next week!
